The Carmel from IWI is a modern platform optimized for performance and simplified maintenance. Its short-stroke piston operating system and rotating bolt ensure clean, reliable operation. The receiver combines steel and aluminum components with a high-strength, corrosion-treated polymer lower, reducing wear and minimizing the need for armorer intervention.

The 16-inch barrel is cold hammer forged, chrome-lined, and free-floating for lasting accuracy. The rifling twist is 1:7″ with 6 grooves, suited to 5.56 NATO. Ergonomics have been refined for professional use. The mechanism features fully ambidextrous controls: a reversible safety lever, a reversible non-reciprocating charging handle, and a magazine release and bolt catch accessible from either side.

The stock folds to the side and offers adjustable length of pull and cheek-riser height to tailor the grip and allow firing with the stock folded. The M-LOK handguard accepts accessories and QD attachment points, and incorporates a mounting system for a sling attachment point on the receiver.

The CARMEL offers adjustable gas management for use with muzzle devices and possible suppressors. The 1/2x28 muzzle threads are standard for mounting accessories. Standard equipment includes a two-stage factory trigger, a B5 Systems P23-compatible AR grip, QD points on the receiver and handguard, and a MAGPUL PMAG Gen M3 (windowed) 10-round magazine supplied depending on the announced configuration.

Designed for simple maintenance and broad logistical compatibility, the CARMEL accepts STANAG 5.56 MIL-STD magazines in steel, aluminum, or polymer and is built to keep maintenance requirements to a minimum. Overall length ranges from 67.9 cm with the stock folded to 94.6 cm extended, and the weight is approximately 3.69 kg without a magazine.
