Introduction

The exact number of TT33 Tokarev pistols produced from the 1930s through the sixties is not precisely known — Russia is believed to have manufactured around 2 million, an enormous figure, and several countries that were members of or sympathetic to the communist bloc of the time produced numerous variants in their own factories, as was the case in Poland, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, China, and North Korea, among others.

Be that as it may, this remarkably reliable, semi-automatic pistol, chambered in 7.62 x 25mm TT with a very respectable range of 50 meters thanks to a muzzle velocity of 420 m/s, had an 8-round capacity. Weighing 910 grams and measuring 196 mm in length, some variants were chambered in 9 x 19mm Parabellum.
